“Repent and believe the Gospel.” This invitation, which we find at the beginning of Jesus’ preaching, introduces us to the Lenten season, a time dedicated in a special way to conversion and renewal, to prayer, to fasting and to works of charity. In recalling the experience of the chosen people, we too set out as it were to retrace the journey that Israel made across the desert to the Promised Land. We too will reach our goal; after these weeks of penance, we will experience the joy of Easter. Our eyes, purified by prayer and penance, will be able to behold with greater the face of the living God, to whom we make our own pilgrimage on the paths of earthly life.

Gossip! “idle talker, newsmonger, groundless rumours.” Gossip is evil and wrong. Gossip is destructive to community. Gossip is not to be tolerated in our faith community. The only time we should be talking about someone else’s business, is when we are talking to THEM. Please learn not to participate in gossip especially when it comes to our church family.

Andrew Eykelenboom, ( Boomer) a Canadian Solder, was killed in Afghanistan on Aug. 11th, 2006. His friends started the Boomer Cap Project, where caps are knit and given to the soldiers to give to Afghan children . We would like to reach out and be a part of this project. If you cannot knit, then perhaps you would donate some wool so that others could knit these caps. If you are interested please contact Mary Jane Norman 528-3435 for patterns and more information.
Parish Tax receipts for 2009 are available in Emmaus Café.

When an occasion keeps you away from the gathered church on Sunday, please ensure your regular offering is maintained. This is crucial for the week to week operating of the parish.
Envelopes: for any new comers to our parish family, or for those who may be re-joining us, your responsible financial contribution to the parish is of course very important. Envelops available on table at entrance to Oratory. For automatic deposit, talk to Winston Bishop.
The Lord Jesus calls us to be a welcoming and Spirit-filled community. As we gather from Sunday to Sunday, and throughout the week, please make the opportunity to greet and love those whom you don’t YET know.
